Relationship between the plan date range and the weekly panner

Relationship between the plan date range and the weekly panner

There is a relationship between the date range in a plan and the ability to import a plan into the weekly planner.

Every plan has two date fields which allows a plan to run either on a single day or over a number of days or weeks.

The Start Date :: End Date title (indicated by the blue box) relates to the two date fields.  The first date (red box 1) is the start date of the plan.  This is the date that the plan will be started. The second date (red box 2) is the date that the planned activity will end.  If this date is the same as the start date as it is displayed in Figure 1 then the plan is only active for this date e.g. 2/7/18. By default a plan will be populated with today’s date in both date fields.

Figure 1

Selecting a different date for the End Date will make the plan active from the start date to the end date.  In Figure 2 we are selecting the 13th which will effectively make this plan ‘Making a cake‘ active for 2 weeks.  Any date into the future may be selected, you are not limited to one or two weeks.  A planned activity may be kept active across an entire school term or a couple of months.

Figure 2

Now when we want to add this planned activity to the Weekly Planner it will be available to import from the 2nd to the 13th, the entire 2 week period.

In Figure 3 you should note that Monday the 2nd has been selected in the weekly planner.  You may also note that the plan ‘Making a cake‘ is available to be imported on this date. It also indicates that the plan is available from the 2/7/18 until 13/7/18By selecting any date between these dates the plan will be available for importing into the weekly planner.

In Figure 4 the plan is added to the weekly planner by clicking on the ‘add’ button for this plan

Figure 4

For the purpose of this example we will also add this planned activity into the weekly planner on the 5th and again on the 12th.

Now when we view the weekly planners across two separate weeks the planned activity will be displayed for each date it was imported into the planner (2nd, 5th and 12th).  To select the current week we click on Monday 2nd in the date box, see Figure 5.

Figure 5

The weekly planner shows the two dates that the plan (Making a cake) has be added to the program for this week in Juniors, as shown in Figure 6.

Figure 6

When we select the weekly planner starting on Monday the 9th the weekly planner shows the activity ‘Making a cake‘ on the 12th when we added it to the planner.  See Figure 7.

Figure 7

Using the date range within a plan enables educators to use the same plan over a period of time in the weekly planner without having to replicate the plan on a weekly or daily basis.
